Well Fed Weekly for 10/12/26 - The Secret Is The Brine

“People always say how easy it is to cook, but it is not any easier than not cooking.” - Maria Bamford

Happy Monday food fans! Side note, it helps if you read that last line in Bob Uecker’s voice.

It’s MEA week here in the Twin Cities, which if you are a parent and/or child in Minnesota, you know what that means! No Schedule Left Un-F’d. But let’s see if we can at least start the week on a productive note.

Show News

Episode 824, recorded live at INTI, is available now to Patreon backers and available to the wide world this Tuesday the 13th, which is only 20% as unlucky as Friday. For what that’s worth.

Due to aforementioned schedule fun as well as a lingering case of “old man”, there won’t be a new episode next week, but plan on at least a few past episodes showing up on the feeds.

Food News

Upcoming changes to THC policy on a federal level could mean doom and gloom for local brewers, says Heavy Table. Which doesn’t make this the top 20 horrible things to come out of the federal government lately, but still sucks.

In other not-good news, Rosedale’s Potluck Food Hall is closing. Now where can one go to eat decent burgers and try to talk themselves out of laser tag?

In dumber news, can we just call the pickle thing done? We like them as much as the next guy, but leave it to the Dutch to take things too far.

Homework

In honor of Indigenous People’s Day, we suggest you try at least one of these Native American foods this week. Bonus points if you can manage akutaq.

And on that note, we are off to source some seal fat and berries. For reasons.
