Girl Germs Episode 1 – Bubblegum/SXSW

Welcome to the maiden voyage of the SS Girl Germs! Our first netcast for Fancy Pants Gangsters finds us (Anna and Dana) a little antsy for spring. We’ve found the best way to quell this malaise, if you will, is to listen to some sunny pop music and given that Dana is a little obsessed with the new Peach Kelli Pop (a.k.a. Allie Hanlon, drummer for White Wires) record right now, of course we have to play that for you.

In part 2 of this week’s episode, Anna and Dana give a preview of the ladies who are sure to make 2011’s South by Southwest music festival a memorable one (Yoko Ono a featured speaker? Yes, please!). Dana is heading down to Austin and will be updating the Girl Germs blog, Facebook and Twitter with all the SXSW happenings and interviews with the likes of Puro Instinct, Screaming Females and Shannon and the Clams.

Those lucky enough to be in the Twin Cities can join us for even more pop gems at our next TV Party with Girl Germs at the Red Stag Supperclub Monday, March 14. The night kicks off with a DJ set from Travis Ramin of Ramo Records (who happens to be one of Tina’s Total Babes), who’ll be spinning bubblegum and power-pop artists from 9 to 10 p.m. Episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show will begin at 10.
