Yet Another Gaming Show

Join the YAGS crew (Mike, Courtney, Ashley and Evan) as they talk about videogaming, with a bend toward gaming news and law, along with the standard game reviews, nonsensical asides, rambling diatribes, and outright lies you’ve come to expect from The Fancy Pants Gangsters.

Yet Another Gaming Show Episode 211 – Feel So Used

Posted by FPG Post-O-Matic

August 26th, 2010

Yeah so the whole used game debate kicked up again, thanks to some comments by THQ and Tycho over at Penny Arcade. So once again the YAGS crew, bolstered by a returning Ashley, wade into the frigid waters of gamer nerd rage. Evan fires the first salvo in blog form, while everyone else seeks shelter from the intellectual wankery shrapnel. They also cover bits of the Rock Band 3 playlist and complaining Italians.

Several of the Gangsters will be attending Chicago Entertainment Collectors Expo on September 9-12. We’ll be podcasting and hanging out, and we’d love to meet our listeners. We’ll have more details as it approaches, but we look forward to meeting everyone.

Yet Another Gaming Show Episode 210 – Not That Culkin

Posted by FPG Post-O-Matic

August 19th, 2010

It’s a shame no one on YAGS has a connection to the Culkin family. We love big Irish families and also would love to meet Mila Kunis.

Another Ashley-less week, but this week we have super engineer Jeff filling in the role as the hottest person on the show. Which says less about Jeff and more about the three other bridge trolls that comprise the cast.

Nevertheless, the guys do manage to discuss the Scott Pilgrim movie/game empire, how to make a better movie tie-in, Monday Night Combat and even Starcraft 2. If that wasn’t enough, Evan also interviews Roguelikefiction.com‘s Nathan Jerpe about his game Legerdemain. It’s like putting 10 gallons of show in a 5 gallon bucket!

Yet Another Gaming Show Episode 209 – In The Year 1997

Posted by FPG Post-O-Matic

August 12th, 2010

Come with me, children, as I tell of the great year 1997.  It was a magical time, where cults killed themselves because a UFO was coming on a comet, James Cameron began his reign of terror as an unelected “King Of The World“, and all humans went back in time, forcing animals to build a tower to the sky.

Some or all these things may not have actually happened.

Nevertheless, in our time (down here), Evan returns from GenCon with almost no video game news (but he does bring a Scott Pilgrim game review), Courtney insults the deaf, and Mike gets all Future-Man with us and plays videogames from only a few years ago. The nerve.

Evan: hey were you gong to write show notes for YAGS?
Courtney: I didn’t know I was supposed to
Evan: well could you? I wasn’t there :-)
Courtney: I’m leaving for Madison in a half hour
Evan: well shit. OK ill come up with something
Courtney: We talked about abstinence game, Activision’s lack of female leads, NBA Jam, our favorite game for tournament play, Limbo, and a little bit of Starcraft II.
Evan: I can work with that.

Yet Another Gaming Show Episode 207 – There’s No I In Gungan

Posted by FPG Post-O-Matic

July 30th, 2010

There’s also no I in teamwork, but there’s an Ewok.

Ashley returns from fabled San Diego with tales of Pauly Shore, custom toys, and the occasional video game. Feel free to check out her expanded thoughts on many of these topics in her blogs, by the way. Because we are iconoclasts, uninterested in the games The Man(tm) want you to play, there will be no Starcraft 2 talk on this week’s show. Maybe next week. Maybe.

In other news, Mike done did a show what’s not YAGS. It’s called the GoozCast and you should listen.
