Fancy Pants Gangsters takes over dead-tree media!
Posted by Evan
Well not exactly, but several Gangsters were featured in a recent article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune about the recession and video gaming. Evan and Courtney from Yet Another Gaming Show have quotes, and occasional F.I.L.M. Army contributor Adam Mehl was predominately featured as well. You can read the article here. Feel free to leave comments showing your YAGS love!
If you are coming courtesy of the Strib article, welcome! Please sample our many fine shows, Francois will be with you in a moment.
Help a brother out! Hijinks Ensue willing to trade comedy for money!
Posted by Evan
Webcomic creator, designer of the heretofore-unseen-but-trust-me-it’s-awesome F.I.L.M. Army shirt, and generally cool cat Joel Watson needs your help. You see, his fantastic webcomic Hijinks Ensue is finally releasing a hardbacked version for people without electricity. It collects all his strips from 2007-2008 and ranges in price from 20 bucks for the basic book up to 60 bucks total for the Ultimate Special Fancy (Artist) Edition.
Why are we hocking the wares of another site? A couple reasons. It’s my opinion that HE is one of the coolest strips out there if you are into general geeky stuff, as most of you guys are. But beyond that, this preorder is the make-or-break moment for what Joel calls The Experiment. See, a couple years ago Joel quit his day job to focus on the strip, and was trying to see if he could support his family based solely on income from the site such as donations and merch sales. Sound familiar?
Well depending on how the preorder goes, The Experiment will either die on the vine or continue to a bright new day. Being a believer in karma as well as supporting those whose work I admire, I figured I’d help Joel out as best I can by letting you guys know about this. So if you have some loose sheckles lying around, maybe you need a new book to read. The more creative geeky types without day jobs, the better.
