Half mad screeds from the Fancy Pants Gangsters relating to show announcements, network-wide news, and other bits of info we think are important.

    Save The Date: March 1st

    February 23rd, 2010

While march 1st isn’t any sort of voodoo holiday that I am aware of, there will be two Fancy Pants Gangsters shows returning from the dead on that auspicious day.

The Film Army, gone these past many months, will be returning in a new, monthly format. This new longer prep time will allow us to go much more in depth with our features and interviews and put a level of polish on the show that doing a weekly show wasn’t allowing us to do. The new Film Army will release on the first of every month.

And while I could say something along the lines of everything I already said, I’ll let Courtney do the talking here…

At the risk of sounding cliche, change is good.  That’s why over at the Midwest Ska Moment, I’ve been refining, regrouping and retooling your favorite ska podcast.  Some things will stay the same (same host, same podcast network, covering the same great genre of music), however, the changes will be vast improvements.  I have expanded the scope of the show to cover artists, bands, DJs, and bloggers who have contributed to the overall national ska/reggae/rocksteady music scene, not just the Midwest.  The show format will change from me prattling on about bands to me interviewing the bands directly.  Since interviews take longer than a usual episode, I have decided to expand the length of the episode from around 10 minutes to about 45 minutes.  This is why the show will no longer be called the Midwest Ska Moment.  So instead, it is with great pleasure to announce the beginning of the Flyover Ska Show, giving you an in-depth look at the world of ska, reggae, and rocksteady in the US from right here in flyover country.
So there you have it. Mark your calendars for March 1st as Fancy Pants Day (as opposed to No Pants Day, which is nearly every other day here at Pants Command).

Special Thanks From The F.I.L.M. Army

    November 11th, 2009

I realize as I write this that it is Veteran’s Day, so it feels a little weird talking about the F.I.L.M. Army like it was an actual military unit. Before we get into the fun stuff, on behalf of all of us Fancy Pants Gangsters I want to thank all veterans for their service and dedication.

    Now, onto the sillier stuff.

Huge doin’s this past weekend (so huge that I am just getting a chance to talk about them now). First off a big thanks to Nick and everyone at Crypticon Minneapolis for hosting a great show. We got lots of good material talking with the assembled stars, and met a lot of very interesting people to boot. You’ll be hearing from both groups on upcoming F.I.L.M. Army episodes.

Also, I’d be horribly remiss to forget to thank Nate and everyone at the Plaza Maplewood. Nate was nice enough to ask us back after we helped out with the screening of El Superbeasto a few weeks ago, and when he told me they were going to do all 3 movies in the Evil Dead Trilogy, I had to jump on it. Again, we met a lot of cool people and humiliated ourselves only slightly.

If you discovered us because of one of these events, drop us a line. We love supporting local events like these, and knowing that if turns a few people onto our shows helps even more.

    Evan on Who Asked You?

    October 20th, 2009

Hey everyone, sorry for the late link, but I was lucky enough to join the guys on Who Asked You? this week. Due to Vegas Pox (Pox Vegas?) they ended up skipping last week’s show and giving people 2 this week.

You can listen to my show here or if you want to listen to a good episode, just check just about every other episode but mine.

Big thanks to Chase, Mike, Jibari, and of course The Cheese for letting me come on the show!

    Welcome all FallCon people!

    October 12th, 2009

Hey just wanted to put up a quick note about FallCon this past weekend. Ash, Jay and I all want to thank everyone that we got a chance to talk to over the course of the show, and hopefully most of you are seeing this right now!

If you met us at the show, be sure to check out the forums and the store above, and tell your friends about us.

Thanks again, from everyone at Fancy Pants Gangsters!

Fancy Pants Gangsters wins a major award!

    October 5th, 2009

Well not yet. But we could, if you go to PodcastAwards. You can nominate any one of our shows, or all of them if you want. Just go to the site and fill out the form. We’d love it if we got nominated, and we can only do that if you all help us out. Thanks!
