The F.I.L.M. Army

The phrase “theater of war” was never so appropriate, as Evan and Jay command a seemingly endless force to conquer the twin landscapes of film and DVDs. From the latest releases to classics both forgotten and cherished, The F.I.L.M. Army is ever vigilant, and always accepting recruits.

The F.I.L.M. Army Episode 47 – Liv and Let Liev

December 11th, 2009

And with that, Evan reclaims his crown as the worst punster of all time. He’s unduly proud, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Short show this week, as the Midwestern cold snap has frozen our microphones, forcing us to burn old copies of Spaced Invaders for warmth. Not all copies, though. Gotta keep one, it’s a Halloween tradition after all.

Last Week’s Soundtrack: Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels

Segments:

New Releases

Wide Angle: John Carpenter (Evan’s note: Jeff is crazy, Big Trouble In Little China rules)

The F.I.L.M. Army Episode 46 – Gordon

December 4th, 2009

Upon no small amount of reflection, it would seem that Gordon’s have been involved in some of the biggest events in puppet down. Gordon Shumway, of course. Gordon from Sesame Street. And how could you forget Gordon Currie, star of Puppet Master 4 AND 5?

So it should come as no surprise that we managed to find another Gordon with his hands in puppet unmentionables. Gordon Smuder was nice enough to talk to Evan about his great online series Transylvania TV, as well as some of his other experience in and thoughts about special effects. All this plus the latest info on new releases? My stars and garters!

Last Week’s Soundtrack: Funny People

Segments:

Fancy Pants Gangsters on turkey-based sabatical

November 25th, 2009

Hello faithful listeners! Just wanted to leave a quick note that there will be no Cosmic Slop, Yet Another Gaming Show, or F.I.L.M. Army this week as the Gangsters have scattered to the four corners of the Earth (or Oerth, in Courtney’s case.  The Klos family are minor celebrities in Western Oerik.)

After the birdmageddon, we will return with bellies full and ‘casting joints well oiled. Have a great holiday!

The F.I.L.M. Army Episode 45 – Fat Black Rudy

November 20th, 2009

Hopefully this episode title will go down as one of Jay’s greatest comparisons ever. Get Websters on the phone! Wait, who does quotes again? Roget? Ah whatever.

The second installment of our Crypticon coverage, this featuring the immortal words of Bill Moseley (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Devil’s Rejects) and Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters, The Crow), along with more favorite horror movie talk directly from the fans. Not only that, but Jay and Evan also dissect the latest in new releases and generally pontificate on life, love, and Nick Cage’s hair.

Last Week’s Soundtrack: Thunderball

Segments:

New Releases

Bill Moseley Interview

Crypticon Fan-On-The-Street Part 2

Ernie Hudson Interview

The F.I.L.M. Army Episode 44 – Tales From The Crypticon Vol. 1

November 14th, 2009

Yeah, it’s a lame pun, but…well there isn’t a but.

Probably our longest show to date, mostly because we didn’t want to sit on all this great material from last week’s Crypticon Minneapolis. It was an amazing show, and again we want to thank Nick and everyone else for putting the show on and letting us wander around harassing people. We’ve got more interviews and other stuff to give you next week, as well, so it’s like the convention never ends, which might explain why this metal band is still in my living room.

Last Week’s Soundtrack: Serenity

Segments:

New Releases

Ricou Browning Interview (yes I know Evan messed up the order on the show)

Nick Kaufman Interview

Crypticon Fans-On-The-Street Part 1

Storytime with Don Calfa
