The phrase "theater of war" was never so appropriate, as Evan and Jay command a seemingly endless force to conquer the twin landscapes of film and DVDs. From the latest releases to classics both forgotten and cherished, The F.I.L.M. Army is ever vigilant, and always accepting recruits.

If you had any idea how frustrating it is to say this….

You probably have noticed that there wasn’t a November episode of the F.I.L.M. Army. After missing our deadline, the hope was to do a combined November/December one, but even that is looking harder and harder to do given the impending holiday. Missing deadlines is unfortunately not uncommon for F.I.L.M. Army, due partly to the problem of trying to coordinate lots of different people while also trying to run a network and host 2 other shows, plus day job and all that. I don’t see it getting any easier either.

So rather than try to resurrect or reconfigure the show again, I’m just going to try and end it gracefully. So last month’s episode will be the final episode of the F.I.L.M. Army. I want to thank Jay, Courtney, Jeff, Nate, our fantastic opening guy Ron, and everyone that has guested on the various segments we’ve done for the show over the last few years. You’ve made the actual production of the show a joy. And big thanks to all of you listeners. I’m sorry I couldn’t do more.

I still want to do a show about movies, maybe a little less ambitious, but that will have to wait until next year. Stay tuned to this space for more information as we figure it out.

-Evan

What the F.I.L.M. Army lacks in rhyming ability, they make up for in sheer movie netcasting might. And this month that might is enhanced with the help of a raft of special guests. James Vorstenbosch of the unaffiliated-but-still-pretty-cool Film Army (real men use acronyms) talks with Evan about how his group helps young Canadian filmmakers and which Canadian films everyone should see. Nate returns with a big fat sack of House Of The Dead, the best movie about zombie pirates since that one with the guy from 21 Jump Street. And if that wasn’t enough, Chris from Blogulator and Bald Bryan from The Film Vault join Courtney and Evan in the War Room, where a bunch of white men talk about politics. Typical.

This month’s soundtrack was provided by Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, available on DVD and Blu-Ray November 9th.

Even Canadians can appreciate the value of a free 2 week trial of Netflix. Not only does it help support the F.I.L.M. Army, it makes it easier to see all those random movies we mention during the show. You did right them all down, right? Inspire them to what is up to fate, and the courts, to decide.

Lots of newcomers this month, as Box Office Poison’s Nate is off exploring the Land Of Moose And Meth while Jay still hasn’t returned from his walkabout. Ian Anderson falls on his sword and defends Transformers 2, while (not-Bop) Nate Willar tells us why The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo is horrible date movie. Evan returns from CECE with highlights from his interviews of Caroline Munro, Bonnie Piesse and Gerald Home, while Courtney celebrates the new football season without a hint of grid-irony. I actually feel dirty having wrote that.

You surely could do better than the two yabbos at the end of this month.Or if you want to contribute in a way that is less work, you can always sign up for a free 2 week trial of Netflix.

As our Fearless Announcer(TM) states. September is by far the worst month for movies. Too late for the summer blockbuster yet too early for the Oscar bait, September is a veritable dumping ground for Hollywood films. So this month the F.I.L.M. Army looks a little deeper in the dreck and mire (not to be confused with Breckin Meyer, who’s surfer-accountant swagger is swoonworthy) of the film world. Courtney takes a look at the dark side of success in the documentary Overnight, while Evan interviews the sweet side of un-success in the form of Lloyd Kaufman, founder of Troma Films, the longest running independent film house in the world. Sandwiched between these two like some sort of cheesy filling is Nate’s vivisection at Catwoman in Box Office Poison.

This month’s soundtrack was brought to you by MacGruber, out now on DVD and Bluray.

A short show, to be sure, but a high quality one. Much like free two-week trials of Netflix, in that they both pack much entertainment into short packages. Keep the schoolyard jokes to yourselves, please.

Come on down and check out Evan, Ashley, and maybe some other Fancy Pants Gangsters at the Chicagoland Entertainment Collector’s Expo on September 9th-12. We’ll be doing live streaming as well as talking to people live at the show, and we’d love if a few of our listeners showed up to say hi as well. Stay tuned to the site for more details.

This month's soundtrack was brought to you by MacGruber (http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&keywords=macgruber&tag=fancpantgang-20&index=blended&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325), out now on DVD and Bluray.

A short show, to be sure, but a high quality one. Much like free two-week trials (http://clickserve.cc-dt.com/link/tplclick?lid=41000000030310780&pubid=21000000000256241) of Netflix, in that they both pack much entertainment into short packages. Keep the schoolyard jokes to yourselves, please.

Come on down and check out Evan, Ashley, and maybe some other Fancy Pants Gangsters at the Chicagoland Entertainment Collector's Expo (http://www.nonsportcardexpo.com/) on September 9th-12. We'll be doing live streaming as well as talking to people live at the show, and we'd love if a few of our listeners showed up to say hi as well. Stay tuned to the site for more details.

More information and show notes can be found in our forums (http://forum.fancypantsgangsters.com/). You can find out how to submit your segments to the show there as well. Questions and comments can be left below or can be sent to film@fancypantsgangsters.com. The F.I.L.M. Army can also be found on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-FILM-Army/322254463405) and Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/filmarmyfpg), or in the hearts of the brave men and women who fight everyday for film and internet independence.

Have you ever wanted to send something in to the F.I.L.M. Army? A review or maybe a commentary on cinema or DVDs? Maybe a rant or even a recommendation? Here’s how:

Get yourself Audacity (free) and a microphone (not free, but you should already have a microphone for all the Chat Roulette you are doing). Record something anywhere between 3 and 15 minutes (some exceptions will be made beyond these limits, but they better be damn good). Save the file in the audio format of your choice (mp3 preferred) and send it to film@fancypantsgangsters.com with your name and a description of the what your segment is about. If we use your segment, you’ll get your name on the show and a $25 Amazon gift certificate for your troubles.

We do reserve the right to edit your segment for content, clarity, and timing, so don’t get all uppity if we cut it down a bit. We promise to be gentle.

Deadline for submissions is the 25th of each month, so be sure to get your segment in on time. The earlier the better.

Any questions, feel free to email us or leave them in the comments.
