You probably have noticed that there wasn’t a November episode of the F.I.L.M. Army. After missing our deadline, the hope was to do a combined November/December one, but even that is looking harder and harder to do given the impending holiday. Missing deadlines is unfortunately not uncommon for F.I.L.M. Army, due partly to the problem of trying to coordinate lots of different people while also trying to run a network and host 2 other shows, plus day job and all that. I don’t see it getting any easier either.

So rather than try to resurrect or reconfigure the show again, I’m just going to try and end it gracefully. So last month’s episode will be the final episode of the F.I.L.M. Army. I want to thank Jay, Courtney, Jeff, Nate, our fantastic opening guy Ron, and everyone that has guested on the various segments we’ve done for the show over the last few years. You’ve made the actual production of the show a joy. And big thanks to all of you listeners. I’m sorry I couldn’t do more.

I still want to do a show about movies, maybe a little less ambitious, but that will have to wait until next year. Stay tuned to this space for more information as we figure it out.

What the F.I.L.M. Army lacks in rhyming ability, they make up for in sheer movie netcasting might. And this month that might is enhanced with the help of a raft of special guests. James Vorstenbosch of the unaffiliated-but-still-pretty-cool Film Army (real men use acronyms) talks with Evan about how his group helps young Canadian filmmakers and which Canadian films everyone should see. Nate returns with a big fat sack of House Of The Dead, the best movie about zombie pirates since that one with the guy from 21 Jump Street. And if that wasn’t enough, Chris from Blogulator and Bald Bryan from The Film Vault join Courtney and Evan in the War Room, where a bunch of white men talk about politics. Typical.

Lots of newcomers this month, as Box Office Poison’s Nate is off exploring the Land Of Moose And Meth while Jay still hasn’t returned from his walkabout. Ian Anderson falls on his sword and defends Transformers 2, while (not-Bop) Nate Willar tells us why The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo is horrible date movie. Evan returns from CECE with highlights from his interviews of Caroline Munro, Bonnie Piesse and Gerald Home, while Courtney celebrates the new football season without a hint of grid-irony. I actually feel dirty having wrote that.

Get yourself Audacity (free) and a microphone (not free, but you should already have a microphone for all the Chat Roulette you are doing). Record something anywhere between 3 and 15 minutes (some exceptions will be made beyond these limits, but they better be damn good). Save the file in the audio format of your choice (mp3 preferred) and send it to film@fancypantsgangsters.com with your name and a description of the what your segment is about. If we use your segment, you’ll get your name on the show and a $25 Amazon gift certificate for your troubles.

We do reserve the right to edit your segment for content, clarity, and timing, so don’t get all uppity if we cut it down a bit. We promise to be gentle.

Deadline for submissions is the 25th of each month, so be sure to get your segment in on time. The earlier the better.
