As I’m typing this, it is my birthday. And while I am once again reminded of how good I have it, there is still a nagging pain in my gut. Most people know that I treat all our shows like my children, which means more than just random beatings and drunken resentment. I want every single one of them to succeed, not just for my sake, but for the sakes of all the other hosts and the network as a whole.

Which is what makes this announcement all the more annoying. As of today, F.I.L.M. Army is on hiatus while Jay and I, along with Jeff and the other Gangsters, figure out what we want to do. Both Jay and I really want to do a film show on Fancy Pants, but it’s getting tougher and tougher to put together a show of quality and not just us talking about the newest releases.

I want to say that this isn’t a comment on Jay, Jeff, or anyone else who contributed to the show so far. They have made doing the show fun enough that I labored over this decision for weeks longer than I would have otherwise. Nor is it a comment on our special guest host Chase from Who Asked You?, who was due to be on this week’s show (incidentally, his choice would make an excellent substitute for your DVD release news and angry diatribe needs. You should check them out.) This has more to do with our obligations outside the network and our commitment to doing good shows.

My hope is that we will be back up in some form by late January. We might release a random episode here and there in the mean time to keep our iTunes listing going, so don’t unsubscribe yet. I’m looking forward to getting back to doing great film netcasts, and I’m glad to know that we have patient listeners who will make sure we have a reason to keep doing them. Thanks again, everyone!

(On a side note: None of the other shows on Fancy Pants Gangsters are in danger of going away, except maybe Midwest Ska Moment, but that’s just for the holidays. So don’t fret too much).
